The event, organized by Fiera Milano and Pentastudio, has grown 20% since last year and presents itself as a strategic platform for designers, engineers, and installers seeking solutions to address the challenges of the energy and digital transition. In addition to the exhibition area featuring leading industry players, Smart Building Expo offers a packed program of workshops, training sessions, and networking opportunities.
“SMART BUILDING EXPO has grown from edition to edition and today represents a unique opportunity to converge and develop skills related to technological integration and the smart evolution of buildings and cities,” emphasizes Luca Baldin, Project Manager of the event.
The program is divided into three thematic days, designed to guide professionals on a journey from decarbonization to the role of smart cities.
On November 19th, the focus will be on climate neutrality and the impact of the EPBD4 directive, with insights into the investments needed for building renovation and solutions for reducing the environmental footprint of data centers, which are increasingly strategic but also energy-intensive infrastructures.
The second day, November 20 , will focus on electrification , with workshops dedicated to real estate, the progressive replacement of gas systems and the hospitality sector, where automation and air quality are redefining the tourist experience.
On November 21st, the focus will shift from individual buildings to the urban dimension with the workshop “From Building to City,” which will explore the role of smart buildings as active nodes of smart cities. From this perspective, new technologies such as energy grids, cloud computing, and edge computing, along with the UNI 11973-2025 standard, represent key tools for the transformation of Italian cities.
Innovation, training, and synergies with MIBA
A significant amount of space will be dedicated to innovation squares, spaces for discussion and discussion, hosting talks and in-depth discussions on building automation, systems integration, and renewable energy sources.
The Renewables District will instead offer a stage for debates dedicated to energy communities, emerging technologies, and electric mobility, with specific focuses on each of the three days.
Alongside these thematic spaces, Smart Building Expo will host the National Smart Installer Meeting, dedicated to training installers and enriched by the European LIFE-SKEMA project, designed to upgrade technical skills in preparation for the digital and energy twin transition.
Smart Building Expo confirms its position as an integral part of MIBA – Milan International Building Alliance, the trade fair ecosystem that includes MADE Expo, SICUREZZA, and GEE. This synergy brings together construction, systems, safety, and vertical mobility to offer an integrated vision of the future of built environments.
In collaboration with ASSIL, the Confindustria association focused on lighting systems, the fair hosts an area dedicated to the role of lighting.
